What is Astaxanthin+?
Astaxanthin is often referred to as ‘the king of carotenoids’ because it’s one of the most powerful antioxidants found in nature. It’s able to cross the blood-retina and blood-brain barriers, where its powerful antioxidant actions reduce the effects of free radicals, protecting against cell damage.
Astaxanthin is naturally synthesised by some algae. The algae are then eaten by aquatic animals such as lobster, salmon, trout and crabs, giving them their pinkish colour. Our bodies cannot produce astaxanthin on its own, so it must be consumed through our diet and supplements. Astaxanthin+ contains natural extract from a type of algae called Haematococcus pluvialis, and is totally vegan.
