The Isle of Ely Women’s First Crew rowers come from all walks of life, but they have one thing in common besides their love of the sport – as part of our sponsorship, they are all taking Turmeric+.
The diverse crew, aged from twenty to sixty, includes an apprentice, a student, a business coach, a doctor of mathematics, a doctor of bio-archaeology, a marketing director, an HR professional as well as a stay-at-home mum.
They all joined the rowing club for different reasons and six of the crew have rowed together for the past four years. As well as competing in the Cambridge Winter League they are preparing to race in the Women’s Eights Head of the River race for the first time, which takes place on the Thames on 7th March 2020.
Jill McCulloch said: ‘This is the first time our crew has been sponsored and we are all very excited. We’ve heard that Turmeric+ helps with recovery after intense exercise so we will certainly be putting it to the test.’
‘I didn’t take up rowing until I was 47 and before that I did no exercise at all. I took it up as two of my three children as well as my husband were rowing at the time and I thought it would be a good way to see more of them, and now I absolutely love it.’
Our patented turmeric formulation is certified by Informed-Sport, an international body that ensures products can be used in professional sport and are produced to a high standard. Turmeric+ is different to simply eating the powdered spice or taking other turmeric supplements as Dr Nicholas Shenker, Consultant rheumatologist at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and expert in chronic pain syndromes, explains:
‘Curcumin (the active ingredient in turmeric) is poorly absorbed in the gut. FutureYou Cambridge Turmeric+ combines curcumin with lecithin to prevent it being destroyed in the stomach. This allows it to be absorbed and distributed around the body.’
We all wish The Isle of Ely Women’s First Crew the best of luck in the Cambridge Winter League as well as the Head of the River race next month.
