What is 5-HTP+?
5-HTP is a precursor to serotonin and melatonin which are both associated with sleep and mood. 5-HTP is an amino acid produced by the body from Tryptophan, which is naturally found in foods like poultry, dairy products, nuts and seeds. The 5-HTP included in our formulation has been extracted from Griffonia seeds.
Used since ancient times, lavender is often used to encourage sleep and known for its relaxing properties. We use high quality lavender oil extracted from flowers organically-grown in France.
5-HTP+ contains Affron®, a patented Spanish saffron extract that has been shown to be rapidly absorbed by the body. The main active ingredients in saffron are crocin and safranal. Some studies have reported that they have contributed towards improved mood, induced relaxation, helped alleviate stress and anxiety as well as improved sleep quality.
We have also included a bioactive form of vitamin B6 in our vegan-friendly 5-HTP+ that mimics the form usually gained from food. Vitamin B6 contributes to normal psychological function and the regulation of hormones.
